About Us
Founded by former RCMP Officer Emilio “Mel” Tarsitano in 1993, Island Air has grown into a well-respected name in the aviation community, recognized by pilots around the world. Situated in the heart of Toronto at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), Island Air offers a truly unique environment for flight training—one that prepares you to handle a wide range of real-world flying conditions from day one. Our diverse fleet, ranging from Cessna 150s to 182s and including a multi-engine Piper Aztec, ensures you have the right aircraft for every stage of your training or rental needs. Whether you're just starting your aviation journey or looking to stay sharp with a rental flight, Island Air is dedicated to helping you become a safe, confident, and capable pilot.
Directions
When you have arrived at the mainland side of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, you have the option of taking the ferry or the pedestrian tunnel, both are free if traveling on foot.
Once you have crossed to the Island side (either by ferry or pedestrian tunnel),

Exit the main terminal

if taking the tunnel escalator, turn right towards the main exit,

if taking the elevator, exit to the left towards the main exit

if taking the ferry on foot, take the escalators down and exit through the glass doors

Walk towards the roundabout and towards the CN Tower.

Look for the small buildings and look for the Island Air sign.
