Ground School
Island Air’s Ground School is designed to equip aspiring private pilots with the foundational knowledge required for safe and competent flight operations in Canada. . Enrolling at Island Air's Private Pilot Ground School satisfy's CAR 421.26 subpart (3) [minimum 40 hours of ground school instruction] Over the duration of grounds school students will participate in classroom sessions covering topics and content that will be encountered in the Transport Canada Private Pilot Licence (PPL) Written Examination and real-world Canadian aviation scenarios. We run numerous ground school's through out the year and each class is capped at 18 students to ensure a focused and interactive learning environment.
We offer two types Regular & Accelerated. Regular Ground School classes run Tuesdays & Thursdays 18:30-21:30 for approximately 3 months. Accelerated Ground School is on Saturdays & Sundays 10:00 to 18:00 for one month.

In aviation training, multiple publications and textbooks are used to support your exam preparation. At Island Air, our ground school kit includes books that form the foundational knowledge required for your Private Pilot Licence (PPL) training and any future aviation studies you may pursue.

Please note that you are not required to purchase these materials directly from Island Air—you may choose to obtain them from any vendor of your choice. While the textbooks are not mandatory for attending class, they are strongly recommended to support your success throughout your PPL training.
